We are starting to pick strawberries and they’re in the stand. They will be here for a short time and in limited supply so now is your chance! $4.00 per pint
We think it’s finally warm enough to take off the the little boys coat and uncover his beautiful fiber.
Everyone feels the need to check him out – including his big brother Apollo
I had to take a picture of the lovely Grandpa Admire’s lettuce before I cut it.
In addition to the lettuce, we have started picking strawberries so there are a pew pints in the stand. Also getting to the end of asparagus.
It’s finally warm enough at night to safely plant tomatoes! We have several varieties of heirloom tomatoes and some lovely pansies.
All our plants are started here from seed and grown in organic Cowo soil. And – of coarse – never sprayed with insecticides.that could kill your pollinators.
$ 2.00 each
Today is the first French Hens Market of the seaaon. We’re here with our organic tomato and basil plants, lettuce, radishes and rhubarb. All grown by us and fresh picked.
We have our first batch of air chilled chicken from a new processor. It’s a small batch so we are offering 1 or 2 to those who would like to try them before our larger batch is ready in June.
They are available as a whole chicken for $4.00 per pound.

We now have a Lost and Found bin in the stand.
Someone left the sunglasses yesterday afternoon and the keys are still here from last fall.
Happy 2nd Birthday to our first cria. Apollo is a handsome boy with beautiful fiber. And – of coarse- we love him! This is my favorite picture of him peeking out from under his mama. She is a rockstar mom!
71 pounds of seed potatoes from The Potato Garden. We will wait about a week for the to send out sprouts, cut them into smaller pieces and plant them. Clearly, we love potatoes and want to be sure not to run out. We are doubling our planting this year so we have enough for our customers AND us.
On our way to pick up organic chicken feed and lambs and Baron is doing his best to stay awake. Not very successfully.
We were expecting 100 Barred Rock hens this morning and this mornings surprise was an extra box with 25 Easter Eggers and 25 Cornish Rocks!
We had to come up with an emergency spot for the Cornish to get them out of their box.
This morning we planted spinich, beets, carrots, radishes, sugar snap peas and lettuce in the smaller tunnel
And Bill rototilled the bigger tunnel for planting later this week.
I planted lots of little pepper, eggplant and early tomato seeds today.
We also have some cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi and lettuce growing from last week’s planting.

What is GMO? Why should I care? Bringing awareness
Joliet Public Library and Food & Water Watch are co-sponsoring a free movie screening of GMO OMG. This film tells the story of a father’s discovery of GMOs (genetically modified organisms) in relationship to his 3 young children and the world around him. Each of us unknowingly consumes GMOS on a daily basis without knowing the risks to our health and the environment. Come learn what GMOs are and information about the new proposed State of Illinois GMO labeling legislation. Following the film, an expert from Food & Water Watch will be available for a Q & A session. Light refreshments, non-GMO popcorn and bottled water, will be provided by Fruitful Yield Joliet.
