Bill and I were discussing our dinner today and how much of it came from our farm or from a local farm. We realized that the only parts that were not local were the yeast and butter in the bread. The flour and eggs came from our farm, honey from Contrary Mary’s (Minooka), milk from Traders Point Creamery through Amy’s Organics (Plainfield). The chili had our own tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic, beef from Graze and Grow (Schefield) and red and black beans from Breslin Farms (Ottawa).
The flour was stone ground from our organic wheat and will be available for sale in a few weeks after I have had a chance to test some recipes with it.
