New home for the baby hens

Today was moving day for the baby hens (and Rudy). They moved from the brooder room to a larger stall in the barn. They will stay there until they are large enough to move in with the adult hens.  Rudy is the black chick in the picture. He came as a free “exotic” chick with our last batch of meat birds. We chose the name because he would push through the much larger broiler chickens to get to the food.

It has been confirmed that Rudy is a girl – she started laying eggs! She seems to know her name so I guess we won’t change it.
